What Do’s and Don’ts at Bali

When you are having your visit to Bali, whether for vacation, or business, there are several general things that you should know (do’s and dont’s) :

– Change your money at a reputable looking location, use your own (or hotel’s calculator) before do the changing
– Use your waterproof sunblock (if you are visiting beaches)
– Drink a lot of bottled water and eat lots of fresh fruit – for your own body’s health (as the weather in Bali is hot)
– Try not to step on the offerings on streets (walk around them)
– Be careful with your belongings at all times. Crime is increasing and can ruin your holiday plan. Many cases of handbag snatching have been reported, so please leave your important documents on your hotel’s safe, just carry the photocopies, and wear your bag across your shoulders
– Respect the slow pace of processions. If stuck behind one of the queue, don’t honk your motorcycle or car’s horn
– Bargain the price when buying (except on price-tagged goods)
– Buy “Immodium” to relieve bouts of Bali Belly

– Swim outside designated swimming areas. Currents can be very strong so swim between red and yellow flags
– Do drugs, which could lead to death penalty. Many foreigners reside in Bali in courtesy of the Government prison service
– Touch people’s heads – it is very offensive to Hindus
– Enter a temple during your menstruation (ladies) period
– Worry to much about the ice – it is government quality controlled in established bars and restaurants
– Forget to look and listen while crossing the road. Cars may stop, but motorbikes may not
– Forget to check your luggage and items inside the safety box before your leave your hotel room for check out
– Forget to reconfirm your flight 72 hours prior to departure day

Wish you a happy holiday in Bali!
